What is a short film? Telling a story in a few minutes.

A short film is often between two and six minutes long; but this time varies significantly. There can be many difficulties and benefits of making a film of this length. Full-time feature films tend to be around an hour and forty minutes, and characters are developed throughout this time. Characters are (questionably, the most) important aspect in a film because they help to make it enjoyable and relatable to an audience; they drive the overall narrative. Some parts of a plot include major character development; which may not be as achievable through the medium of short.

Short films can benefit from typically being more art house and less conforming to traditional styles. It is widely considered that all major cinematic films are just repeats of previous stories in their genre. It is generally more acceptable for filmmakers to be less traditional in approach when creating a short; as these tend to be created for the benefit of the director and production team and with the intention of having their voice, style or opinions heard. Alternatively, feature films (with many exceptions) tend to be made for the purpose of generating profits and continuing business.
